DTN COMMENTS: Feedlot country remains quiet near midday. We have heard a few
asking prices voiced in parts of the South around $134-135. On a run of 5,448
head, the FCE sold 1,945 steers and heifers. Note the following summary:
   1-9 Day Delivery: 353 head, weighted average price $131.68
   1-17 Day Delivery: 158 head, weighted average price $129.89
   17-30 Day Delivery: 1,394 head, weighted average price $125.42
   Holstein 1-17 Day Delivery: 40 head, weighted average price $93.50
Though the test was light, the weighted average on cattle with spot delivery
were marked about $3 higher than last week.
     Beef cut-outs at midday are mixed, up .42 (choice: $219.43) to off .24
(select: $206.03) with light to moderate box movement (ch: 37 lds; sel: 21 lds;
trimmings: 6 lds; ground beef: 18 lds). Live and feeder futures are on fire
near midday with new contract highs notched in June through December live.
